![]() At the start of the year, each class in our school holds an election to choose a boy and a girl from their class to act as their representatives. Each Rep is presented with a "Kids Council" badge which they wear for the rest of the year while at school. Kids' Council meet periodically to discuss issues presented by their peers via a class meeting, which they feel need to be addressed. These Kids Council meetings are co-ordinated by our School Counsellor, Teresa Harriott. Issues are discussed, decisions are made and if necessary Ms. Harriott will liaise between staff and the Kids Council to achieve an agreeable outcome. Kids' Council elect a Chairperson who runs the meetings and a Reporter who feeds back meeting topics to the Principal. Kids' Council aims to improve the school through a variety of strategies including fundraising, reviewing school procedures, and focussing on equipment or grounds issues they feel need changing or improving. Selected representatives also attend at least one Governing Council meeting each year to keep the Governing Council members up to date on the progress made through the Kids Council. |
