Moths of the West Coast  (South Australia.)

The children from room 10 have been collecting moths for a year now and have all taken a keen interest in collecting, freezing and pinning them into a collection.
This has enabled them to learn a lot about the eating, breeding, flight patterns and life cycles of many local moths.
It has also given them the opportunity to use the microscope, digital camera, loading the photos onto the computer, sending them to scientists at the University of Sydney, and C.S.I.R.O. in Canberra, for identification, and getting lots of expert help from them.
We must emphasise the fact that we are strictly amateurs, and would be grateful if any one points out any incorrect information we have included.
We are collecting and studying moths and caterpillars from around Port Lincoln and Coffin Bay area. We might venture further afield later.

Teachers will find moths and caterpillars very easy to study  because they are large enough for the children to see, and small enough to keep in the classroom.
