Notodontidae. Hylaeora dilucida (Felder).
(Photo. Large brown Makira. L. Jenkins. 2002) Moth found by Makira. This large moth was found at Little swamp, about 5. kms West of Pt. Lincoln. It is brown with a distinctive marking on the bottom of the fore-wing. It has large brown feathered antennae. ------------------------------------- Samora bicolour (Walker)
(Photo 839. L. Jenkins. 2002.) This moth was caught in the Gippsland area of Victoria during the Christmas holidays. It has a wingspan of over 5 cms. ---------------------------------------- Scythrophanes stenoptera (Photo 890. L. Jenkins. 2002.) This moth is grey with a horned appearance. The wingspan is 3.5 cms, and was found in Autumn, on the southern outskirts of Pt. Lincoln. --------------------------------------- Ochrogaster lunifer (Herrich-Schaffer) A Processionary caterpillar. (Photo 860. L. Jenkins. 2002.) This moth was found at Coffin Bay , but I have also caught them in Port Lincoln. It has dark brown forewings with cream stripes, and a very hairy tan body. Its wingspan is 3cms, and has feathery antennae. ---------------------------------- |
