National Reconciliation Week 2016

National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to contribute to building a reconciled Australia.

From the Principal….

Reconciliation week at the Junior Primary was a week thoroughly enjoyed by all. Of course, Reconciliation is at the heart of our nation’s future and so it is very important for children and families to be involved from the early years. We would like to thank the Port Lincoln High School for involving us in their extensive program. Our children loved the opportunity to dance, create art work and cook with older students. All of our classes were involved with the Aboriginal Education Team in an art project which is now on display in the atrium area near our Year 1 classrooms. We also have a display on the Woolies board for everyone to admire.

You will be aware that teachers are promoting independence and resilience at the JP. One helpful way to support this would be if you can encourage your child to carry his/her bag to and from class and work toward getting themselves organised when they first enter the classroom each morning. As a parent, sometimes coaching is all they need to get routines in place. Thanks for your help.
